Connect imem to another MCP app
3 steps · about 90 seconds
Use this path for any AI app that supports remote MCP over Streamable HTTP with OAuth in the browser. imem is hosted, so there is no local server or API key to install.
https://mcp.imem.aiAuthentication uses OAuth in the browser with PKCE and dynamic client registration. No API key is needed; tokens are scoped to one vault and can be revoked from settings.
Setup steps
- 1
Open the app's MCP settings
Find the place where the app lets you add a remote MCP server, custom connector, or HTTP MCP server.
- 2
- 3
Approve OAuth
The app should open a browser authorization page. Sign in to imem if asked, approve access, then return to the AI app.
Verify the connection
Paste the test prompt into the connected AI app. It should save and read back a harmless setup memory, then tell you imem is ready.
Run the imem setup check now. Use the "setup_imem" tool if it is available. It should save and read a harmless test memory, then tell me whether imem is ready.
Troubleshooting
- If the app asks for a command, binary, or local server, it may not support remote hosted MCP yet.
- If the app asks for an API key, look for OAuth or remote connector settings instead. imem setup does not require a copied token.
